Hi! I’m Scott, I just found your blog the other day. I love all the previews for Batwoman, and I really like your redesigns for her costume. So excited!

Stunning work! Wow! I love when artist include Gotham’s articheture into the panels. The city itself is its own compelling character so it’s great to see it infused here!! This is going to be fantastic, J.H.!!

Thanks, Scott. I’m glad you like what you are seeing.

Thank you, Erica. I like to get interesting backgrounds into scenes when possible. The funny thing about the city work is that I find it very difficult to make it look good, but I just can’t picture things without some sort of background detail.

The recent Batwoman news led me to your blog.

This is outstanding work, from an artist that does great work. Those washes give you so much depth!!! The skyline is perfect.

I haven’t bought DETECTIVE COMICS in ages but this will be worth it.

The designs for the costume and fashion make much more sense and have more personality– I think I’m going to rework the action figure.

Best,

Wow, the more I see of Detective Comics, the more I love it. Beautiful layout on this one. I can’t wait for June 24th! On a selfish, opportunistic level I have to ask–are you going to be putting up some of these lovely pages for sale? (please, oh, please…)

Hey there Seth
Thank you very much. And yes art for each issue will start going up for sale sometime in July and each month thereafter as each issue comes out. They will be in the online store when ready and I will announce things on the blog a day or two ahead.

Thank you for posting this stuff. Your art has opened my mind to a whole new world of story telling and helped open my mind to a whole new way of laying out a page. Thank you for both your work and making these images available to all of us.

Simply amazing!
This is going to be the best Batmanbook on the stands, imo! Keep up the great work, JH and I’m sure it’s gonna be a classic run!

I just picked up Detective comics #854, superb job, your artwork is fantastic, you have mad storytelling skills, and Dave’s colors are excellent. Have a great run with the title, can’t wait for issue #2 😀

Hey JH, the last issue of Detective was not only the best book I read last week, it’s the best Bat-book of the post-Final Crisis relaunch. Even better than the Morrison/Quitely Batman & Robin, which I adored.

Keep up the great work, you and Rucka are an outstanding team!
