Ta Da Da…

Here is the color version of the Absolute Promethea Volume One book cover, with spectacular rendering efforts by the impeccable Jeromy Cox and my minor design color contributions. It was very strange and interesting for both of us to sort of go through a bit of timewarp to make this feel right for this part of the series. Afterall, we are talking about material that is almost 10 years old. It was a challenge for us to keep things looking right for that time but still have this freshness to it, to fit in to the here and now while also fitting into the past. Time is relative. It felt very surreal but the result looks just about right…click away.

yeah, but I’m sure I missed a bunch of other hidden things.

Astounding result with a very large palette of colors and diffrent techniques.
I’m not sure that there’s hidden things, except for Jiminy/Jimmy Cricket.
Looking on the details, I am remembered of scenes or immateria backgrounds of Promethea. Is it already 10 years ? Time is flying…

hey there Rodolphe
Thanks. The only real “easter egg” is my head on the grasshopper. A bit of symbolism with that.

JH, this past weekend I was at the ComicsPro comic store retailer trade show at Memphis of which DC sponsored the first day of programming. Bob Wayne (DC’s Vice Prez of Sales for those of you who don’t know) during his presentation of upcomning DC projects pimped the hell out of your Batwoman. He said that people up in the offices constantly ask if new pages had come in, they were that eager to see them. Bob Wayne even said he may break his rule about buying original art from more than one book from an artist (he’s got a Promethea double page spread). Later during dinner, I thanked Bob Wayne for giving out that shout out he did for you and your book to the gathered retailers.

Hey there Ralph
Good news for sure, which is nice to hear considering that they did not give us the cover to the Diamond catalogue as was promised to us. I’m really glad that Bob is enjoying what I’m doing.

You really are going to make me buy this again, aren’t you? Go on. Take it. Kidding aside, I can’t wait to read it again and I’m extremely excited in anticipation of Batwoman. I think inquired elsewhere but are you going to be doing any cons this year?

Hey there Austin
I had thought about going to the san diego show as usual but my schedule just is not going to allow it. So cons will be out for me this year I think.

That is weird that next week’s Preview’s cover isn’t going to feature Batwoman (I’m sure if it was up to Bob Wayne that would be the cover). Sadly it just shows that companies just heavly promote what’s going to sell hugely anyway (Batman and Robin), but your Batwoman will EASILY sell itself once people get the slightest glimpse of it.

Hey there Ralph
Thanks for the supportive comment. It was a bit disheartening and I’ve had conversations about it with the company. They have said there are plans in place to boost the book’s presence, but we’ll see. They say a lot of things that tend not to get done. I hope they are right this time.
