Going through some Promethea files for reasons that will be made clear in a later post and thought I would put of some these into blogs. So here is the first one. Click away…

I *adore* this.

My first thought was also Absolute Promethea.
Re-reading Promethea is one of my resolutions for the new year. It it would be the Absolute edition, it would be great ! A Deluxe edition is more probable, though. An Absolute would be a great way to begin 2009 !

I can’t comment any further at this time. I’ll have something to say about it relatively soon.

i just finished buying and reading the soft covers a couple months ago and fell in love with it! looking forward to future news on this as well as your upcoming “Bat-Project.”
btw, any chance of coming up to Toronto for a convention, or signings?
thanks!

Hey there matt b
Glad you dug Promethea so much!!

It’s funny you mention coming to Toronto. I just received an invite to a show there but, unfortunately, my current schedule won’t allow it. Too many things on my plate at the moment. Hopefully we’ll be able to make it for one sometime in the near future. Never having been to Toronto, it would be a great pleasure to see it.

Absolute Promethea is the only thing that this could be. I hope they include Alan’s scripts, like they did with his League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Promethea was far and away my favorite ABC book. I’ve been hoping for Absolute editions since they introduced that format.

Hell, I’m one of the lucky thousand who owns a copy of the “posters” edition of issue 32… Absolutes would be the icing on that rich rich cake…

Hey there Pete H
Glad you’ve enjoyed Promethea so much. Very gratifying to hear.

So DC officially made the announcement today (19th). Absolutely huzzah! I have been waiting for this for years. Congrats on having your work shown off in such a lush format JH!

Can you spill any details at all, such as will you be designing the book, doing new artwork, etc? Will all three volumes be of equal length (indicating lots of extras).

Anyway, this is great news…

(Sorry if this is a double post: I tried via my yahoo ID and am not sure it worked)

Hey there Mark
You’ll have to read the comments to “it’s official” blog post. I talk about a little bit on the details in those posts.

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this is just about the best news ever! The confirmation of Absolute editions of Promethea finally being released is, for me, on par with the announcement that my favorite band (Phish!) has reunited and will tour. I can think of few other comic-related announcements that could possibly fill me with such joy. What could come close you ask? Well… The ugly Miracle Man dispute finally being resolved leading to Neil G. completing his story arc and the entire series then being given a similar Absolute treatment; Marvel having the balls to do a REAL Howard the Duck movie in a manner befitting the spirit of S. Gerber’s brilliantly surreal, satirical creation with a visionary director the likes of Lynch, Aronofsky, Fincher, Gilliam or what the hey, Snyder (as anyone who can deliver what looks to be a shockingly faithful adaptation of Watchmen is someone who should not be underestimated in terms of ability).

Bottom line: The news of the upcoming Absolute Promethea makes me very, VERY happy.

And jwh3,

Above and beyond all that you already did (by way of your incredible artistic talent) in making Promethea such a special work to experience, thanks for all the tireless campaigning you no doubt did behind the scenes in helping to finally bring the Absolute edition to fruition. I really appreciate the effort and wish to extend a most sincere and heart-felt ‘thank you’.

Peace,

Andy

Hey there Andy
Thank you very much the great comment! A “proper” Howard The Duck movie would be amazing. And I too would love to see Miracleman completed. That is such a tragedy to have happened the way it did.
