I never noticed the bat in the first…I was too focused on the face and skull above Kate! It was only until I saw the untouched cover did I notice it!

I am a massive fan of B&W photos as they seem to capture a certain something that colours never can. Some more detail maybe, and while both covers are stunning, I definitely prefer the original. Same case with the last issue of Promethea. Very interesting reading the anatomy of the issue, but your untouched piece compared to the final piece – what a difference. I definetly prefer the original(and am glad I have the posters from the variant edition), but understand why the changes were done.

Now the long wait until the HC comes out… 🙁

Disappointed that I can’t get the variant cover as my local comic store didn’t manage to get it. Just got back home and finish reading it. An end to Weeping Woman and out comes a new mysterious organization. Overall a great end to the first arc and looking to more writing goodness from jhw3. Oh and one more thing, Mr Bones is so cool in this issue.

It was a 1:25 variant so it was very hard to come by.
In other Batwoman related news it seems #1 was #61 on the Top 500 comics sold in 2011. Not bad.

Hey JHW3,

Lucky enough to snag a copy of the Batwoman 5 variant before I saw this post. Was bowled over just by seeing half of the cover, so the back cover was a BONUS! Hopefully the first Absolutely Batwoman will features all of these variants!!!

(If anyone wants a Batwoman 5 variant, for $6 plus $2 for postage, I may be able to get another one from my LCS). Please lemme know…)

BTW, anxiously awaiting Absolutely Promethea 3 from Thwipster.

All my best to you, Wendy and Haden!

Yer pal,

Wayne

Hey there Alex
Thanks. Yeah, I tend like stuff in black and white more myself.

I love, love, love the variant cover! So cool. That’s the only variant for the run so far, right? Who decides when a variant should be issued? I have to contact my cgc guy to make sure I get one for my collection !!! Just great work!

Hello again azman
Glad you seem to dig the issue. Even though this is the finale to the first arc, it is indeed leading to some bigger things for Kate and the cast. In our minds, the first 3 arcs really are one story broken into three acts.

Hey there Wayne
Cool that you were able to get one. They’ll be a bit tough with the 1 in 25 thing going on.

Hey there Pam
Thanks very much. Yeah, this is the only variant so far. I have no idea how decisions are made to do these sorts of things. I’m glad you like it though.

Ark Well Finished! Love your art as usual! I’m kinda sad that I can’t see your art for a while but I’ll be looking forward Amy’s take on BW and Hope I can see your BW art in summer 🙂

Hey there Peter
Glad you liked the sort of wrap up to the first arc. I’ll be back on art as of issue 12 for arc 3, what we’re loosely referring to as the final story in a trilogy.

Your cover for Batwoman #5 deserves an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Nobel… all in one. Beautiful piece of art! And the conclusion of “Hydrology” was fantastic!

Oh my god, the end of issue #5.

Oh my god, the end of issue #5.

OH. MY. GOD. THE END OF ISSUE #5!!!!

That sir, was absolutely epic. Like for serious. I cannot WAIT to see what new developments come out of this.

*possible spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read it yet*

As much as I love Batman, I’m so happy that Kate’s not simply jumping on the Bat-wagon (so to speak.) Not only will this let us explore Gotham in a new way, I think it says volumes about her strength as a person.

Also, Bones is frigging terrifying. I hate how he seems to know exactly what buttons to press with her.

Hey there SoldierHawk
Thank you, and I’m thrilled you like the ending and the hints of where we’re taking things.

Comment by jhw3 01.19.12 @ 9:45 pm

I am totally in love with this title. Sincerely. The first page? “She is Batwoman” …. killer awesome! Oh, since we’re pretty much all on the Batman Rule … just plain awesome!

Comment by Pam 01.31.12 @ 4:53 am

Thank you very much. I hope you enjoy the first chapter of the next arc.
