Here is a nice multi-article devoted to Jim Steranko’s Red Tide.

Steranko is a true master and one of my biggest influences. His work is always engaging the brain in ways different than most other comics. His sense of composition and pacing is superb. I cannot recommend enough that his work make it’s way into your collections if it hasn’t already.

Thanks JH! I have my copy signed by Steranko! He was supposed to reprint this with updated colors, but that hasn’t happened yet. If it does I’ll have my wallet open!

J3 – Who else do you consider your biggest influences?

Hey there Pam
Oh the list is quite long, but to name a few from comics are…
Michael Golden
Moebius
W. Michael Kaluta
Jack Kirby
Bill Sienkewicz
Alex Toth
Jim Starlin
Howard Chaykin

These are names just off the top of my head at the moment. I could really go on and on, and this is just for comics creators. There are a lot of other areas of art that I find inspiration from.

Wow. Impressive list! I love that Chaykin is there.
