Hey JH,

Can you share which issue # your Jonah Hex will be or what month to look for the solicit? Just want to make sure I don't miss it. (Hopefully I didn't already.)

hey there daniel
thanks for the kind words and yeah, i agree with your assessments of alan and grant's differences.

as for other censored works...no there really hasn't been an issue with that because most of my other work hasn't required anything to speculate about in the content. with desolation jones that book was clearly labeled for mature readers and therefore we had a lot of latitude to do as we wished and pull our punches. when working on 7 soldiers issue 1 i was concerned that we would face a censorship problem on one of early pages that showed the sheeda queen disrobing. because of the techniques used to draw that she isn't completely in shadow and therefore we can see her naked bare alien ass. and there is definitely a side view of her nipple as well. grant wanted her visibly naked and i wanted her to have female sensualness but still be alien. a paradox of darkness and beauty. but no one said squat about it. surprising considering that its a regular dcu book without any labels.

jonah hex...yeah the script is great! i love western comics if they are done well and hex is one of those. the story has this really great feel to it. the first half is basically hex as the bigger than life dark action hero of an almost superhero attitude and the second is really creepy and twisted. so those differences are being emphasized in the way i approach the art. hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.

I must agree. You and Grant seem to have similar pop sensibilities and because of those you two mesh quite well. While with Alan, he seems to be more reserved while you're, how do I say it, more vibrant. Besides Promethea, has there been any other pieces you've worked on that had to be censored?

Also, how did you like Jimmy and Justin's Jonah Hex script? I love the book and the talent that has been involved so far.

Thanks,
Daniel
