A truly magnificent seven issues. One of the most beautifully succinct yet fully realized origin stories ever delivered. Scintillating art, gripping story. Can’t wait till you and Mr. Rucka return to Kate and Alice!

Love all 7 issues, please tell DC that these 7 issues in the hardback deserve the Deluxe Treatment. Batman & Robin is getting it, this book especially with your art deserves it too!

Hey it looks like Greg Rucka has been spilling some beans …. Very very good beans!!

From Newsarama : Rucka says – Then Jim [Williams III] and I are going to – and I’m probably going to get in trouble for saying this – we’re starting on what will be a Batwoman title,” Rucka claims.

Rucka goes on to say that after a newly-crafted “good #1 issue”, designed to make Batwoman completely accessible to new readers, his and Williams’ intentions are for the last 5 parts of the initial 12-part Batwoman story they originally conceived for Detective to be told in the pages of this new Batwoman title.

That is “the big plan right now,” Rucka qualifies.

Reached for comment Tuesday afternoon, DC Universe Executive Editor Dan DiDio told Newsarama, “J.H. and Greg will be wrapping up their run on Detective Comics for the time being. But we feel very strongly about the character and can guarantee she will be prominent in the DCU in 2010.”

I don’t know about you all – but this news completely made my year!!!!!!

Yep, that is the newly planned scenario.

Last night, some friends and I were talking about the Batwoman DETECTIVE COMICS series. Rucka and Williams made some of the most engaging characters with the Kane family. This is the beginning of a wonderful book. It’s on everyone’s must-read list.

I loved how the art style transitioned throughout GO– it became a part of the storytelling. Awesome.

Q for JHWIII: Did you model the Batwoman cycle after anything out there now?

Thanks for that. The story will continue but not in Detective Comics. If you look around the web you’ll find a little bit of info about this. More to come. As for her motorcycle, nothing specific, just referenced different types of racing bikes and designed my own.

I really think you should be proud of the work you have done. In just a few months you have taken a character that had little relevance to people and have evolved her into the best and most progressive book on the shelf. Even Wizard Magazine (the most Marvel bias thing in the WORLD) has been praising you consistently each month. It is not even a question that Detective is book of the year and I can’t wait to see what happens with the new title. Mainly, thank you for giving me something to love each month.
