Hey there Zac
You are essentially correct, although Mutatio is what I found for transform and Virtus is what I found for victory when I researched it.

The music during the charity ball is culled from various forms of classical pieces, some waltzes and such. They're incomplete of course, due to the room on the page. I used more than one and can't remember which is which, The main goal was to use real music bits for a sense of authenticity to the scene.

Humanus, Mutatio, Bestia, Virtus. This is Latin for Human, Change, Animal, Valor, right?

Now, you have me going back to the previous Two issues looking for hidden clues and stuff.

I thought the dancing pages in 856 worked really well. One question though, what's the song, you have them dancing too? I can google Latin words... but trying to figure out the song based on those notations, that's beyond me.

Hey there Josh
Thank you very much. The way a page or sequence is laid out has definitive impact on what the art itself does. In my opinion the drawings have to be in symmetry to the layouts. The layouts are affected by the drawings as well as the drawing being affected by the layouts. This will become even more evident in the second arc when we do some radical style and pacing changes in comparison to this first arc. The layouts for parts of the story become very simple as well the style itself does, making for a very particular feel that is suited just right to the elements of the story. You'll see what I mean in a couple months when it starts to roll out.

I just had to leave a comment to say that the layout for the dance scene is amazing. It not only captures the motion of the dance, but somehow, and pardon my stunted language here, the feel of the music filling the hall.

Your work along with Dave Stewarts' coloring has been close to perfect in this title. The detail in the art is phenomenal, but I have to say that it has been your use of creative panel structure that has floored me more than anything else on this title. Absolute brilliance and beauty. Please keep up the magnificent work.

I love that about this comic - that not just the words are being used to convey story and backstory and emotion... the art is doing that, and doing it wonderfully - all parts, the pencils, the color, the shading. It's just so amazing to me.

You're welcome, kudamono. To some degree we are over emphasizing this element for dramatic effect, showing her separated from the people around her. As a matter of fact, a lot of things we are doing with the visuals are to garner some sort underlying emotional response from the reader beyond the surface of the art servicing the plot.

Hey there Kudamono
I'm not sure what I can say to you about this other this is her look. We don't want her to look like the average person. A lot of redheads that I've known or seen, including my wife, have very pale skin. Some I have seen are almost porcelain in color and we also want this graphicness to her. We want this gothic quality to her, it fits the tone of the story.

A question if you can answer: When Kate Kane's past is delved into a bit later in the year (it seems), will she be less pale? She's currently partly passing for "Alice's" sis about now...

Drat. Finally got my issues today ( I hate when real life interfers with my comic reading )... Bravo! I loved the issue. Loved it !!! The dancing sequence was to die for. I am completely digging the close-ups in the notes. There's always so much to take in, stories within the story. I'm thrilled and very much into this book. Well done!

You know how much I appreciate everything you bring to the project, but upon reading this issue all I can think is Dave is coloring the $#!+ out of this book. Seriously, this is the best the two of you have looked to date and without any of those pesky saturation problems you were having earlier. Damn fine issue.

Hey there Pam
It should be on the 10th of September, at noon California time, which I believe is a Thursday,

You know how much I appreciate everything you bring to the project, but upon reading this issue all I can think is Dave is coloring the $#!+ out of this book. Seriously, this is the best the two of you have looked to date and without any of those pesky saturation problems you were having earlier. Damn fine issue.

Drat. Finally got my issues today ( I hate when real life interfers with my comic reading )… Bravo! I loved the issue. Loved it !!! The dancing sequence was to die for. I am completely digging the close-ups in the notes. There’s always so much to take in, stories within the story. I’m thrilled and very much into this book. Well done!

A question if you can answer: When Kate Kane’s past is delved into a bit later in the year (it seems), will she be less pale? She’s currently partly passing for “Alice’s” sis about now…

Hey there Kudamono
I’m not sure what I can say to you about this other this is her look. We don’t want her to look like the average person. A lot of redheads that I’ve known or seen, including my wife, have very pale skin. Some I have seen are almost porcelain in color and we also want this graphicness to her. We want this gothic quality to her, it fits the tone of the story.

I see. Wasn’t sure if she was born a redhead or if the skin tone was a result of the “heart” issue til now. Thanks for the clear up.

You’re welcome, kudamono. To some degree we are over emphasizing this element for dramatic effect, showing her separated from the people around her. As a matter of fact, a lot of things we are doing with the visuals are to garner some sort underlying emotional response from the reader beyond the surface of the art servicing the plot.

I love that about this comic – that not just the words are being used to convey story and backstory and emotion… the art is doing that, and doing it wonderfully – all parts, the pencils, the color, the shading. It’s just so amazing to me.

I just had to leave a comment to say that the layout for the dance scene is amazing. It not only captures the motion of the dance, but somehow, and pardon my stunted language here, the feel of the music filling the hall.

Your work along with Dave Stewarts’ coloring has been close to perfect in this title. The detail in the art is phenomenal, but I have to say that it has been your use of creative panel structure that has floored me more than anything else on this title. Absolute brilliance and beauty. Please keep up the magnificent work.

You’ll see what I mean in a couple months when it starts to roll out.

Humanus, Mutatio, Bestia, Virtus. This is Latin for Human, Change, Animal, Valor, right?

Now, you have me going back to the previous Two issues looking for hidden clues and stuff.

I thought the dancing pages in 856 worked really well. One question though, what’s the song, you have them dancing too? I can google Latin words… but trying to figure out the song based on those notations, that’s beyond me.

Hey there Zac
You are essentially correct, although Mutatio is what I found for transform and Virtus is what I found for victory when I researched it.

The music during the charity ball is culled from various forms of classical pieces, some waltzes and such. They’re incomplete of course, due to the room on the page. I used more than one and can’t remember which is which, The main goal was to use real music bits for a sense of authenticity to the scene.
